Spanish residency through a company: signing registration papers at a notary

This route is for you if…

  • You have a concrete business idea, not just a name
  • You have the capital your plan genuinely needs
  • You want to create jobs in Spain or reach the European market
  • Your business is innovative or brings economic value to the region

Another route may suit you better if…

  • You simply want to live in Spain; non-lucrative is simpler
  • Your work is a one-person service; self-employment costs less
Requirements

What you will need

  1. Business plan

Your activity, initial capital, revenue forecast, market and the jobs you will create.

  2. Company registration

Registering the S.L. with a notary and the Mercantile Registry, tax number and company bank account.

  3. Real capital

The legal minimum share capital is now very low, but for residency what counts is what your plan actually needs.

  4. A favourable report

Depending on the case, an official body reviews the plan. Innovative businesses have a separate entrepreneur route with a report from the state agency ENISA.

  5. Personal documents

Passport, criminal record and financial proof.

Figures are based on official 2026 indices and change slightly each year. We calculate the exact amount for your case before you apply.

Questions

What people often ask

Can I register the company from Iran?

Yes, much of it can be done remotely with a power of attorney. Signing some documents and opening the bank account may need you in person.

How is this different from self-employment?

Self-employment is you working as an individual. Here the company trades and your residency rests on its activity, which suits larger or multi-person businesses.

Do I have to hire staff?

It is not mandatory, but job creation carries real weight in the plan and strengthens the file.
